Fuel is a vital resource for Dover Docks, it is used for heating and the many vehicles and items of plant used on site are kept in a network of tanks of a variety of different shapes and sizes. Accurate and reliable inventory control is vital to keep the site running smoothly. Pulsar Measurement was approached to replace the unsatisfactory mechanical system with a non-contacting control system so that Dover Docks staff can read the content of the vessel without having to convert the measurement themselves. An added benefit of switching to a non-contacting control system was that personnel were also able to program alarm signals to indicate that the tanks required refilling and to warn of a high level during a tanker fill.dB6 level sensor application image

In addition, Dover Docks also have their own pumping stations and Pulsar Measurement was commissioned to update all troublesome float switches with some zero maintenance, non-contacting dB3 transducers coupled with Ultra 3 Controllers (now replaced by the Ultra 4). Within this application, the key element was to correct the returning echo against the competing echoes generated by chains, pipes, ladders, and other intrusions within the wet well. No other system on the market offers the performance of Pulsar Measurement’s unique DATEM software, allowing the sophisticated pump control routines to ensure that Dover Docks get the very best performance and most efficient sequencing for pump operations.
